    Curator: Véronique Wiesinger
Organization: Alberto and Annette Giacometti Foundation / Base7 Projetos Culturais / Fundación Proa

The first retrospective in South America of the sculptor and painter Alberto Giacometti, one of the greatest figures of 20th Century art.

Through more than 130 works, the exhibition covered all his periods, from the initial stage in his native Switzerland, African art in the 1920s, and his most famous studies of heads and portraits, his emblematic female and walking figures in the 1940s, 50s and 60s. A timeline that allows us to appreciate the various disciplines experimented by Giacometti throughout his career (sculpture, painting, drawing, engraving, decorative art), and the revolution produced to the sculptural practice.

The works selected by Véronique Wiesinger belong to Giacometti Foundation in Paris.

Organized by: Embajada de Suiza en Argentina – Daros – Fundación Proa
Sponsored by: Tenaris - Organización Techint. artEDU Stiftung, Zürich
    Opening: July 4th. 2015

During the 1960s the artistic production was centered in New York, a fundamental location for the formation of the visual arts during the second half of the twentieth century. Many artists turned their attention to America and began an exchange, producing a separation from Europe, previous location for the foundation of historical avant-guards. Imán: Nueva York curated by Rodrigo Alonso, presents an overview focused on the leading artists who lived, visited, interacted and produced work during their youth, for the cultural birth of the Big Apple.

    Queremos ver

Contemporary Space presented the exhibition Queremos Ver, with Rosario Güiraldes as guest curator and interventions by artists Nicolás Bacal, Eduardo Basualdo, Carlos Huffmann and Mariana Tellería. This edition of Contemporary Space carried on Proa's tradition of "contaminating" its architecture and non-exhibitory spaces.

According to Güiraldes, the idea of the exhibition was to “explore how artists of a same generation can develop and express similar interests, trying to illustrate the complexities of a new generation, using the interventions on the architecture as an excuse”.

Creative explosion, political intensity and the redefinition of the role of art in society over the course of ten decisive years.

    Urgent Action

The exhibition focuses on the practices and actions by interdisciplinary art collective in the last two decades up to the present, in Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay. Through various strategies of action: performances, installations and urban interventions, added to various forms of occupation of urban space; the curators propose an exploration of the artists that work with social, political and institutional conflicts.

    Yves Klein Retrospectiva
