The artists’ work can be visited Wednesday through Sunday, from 12 pm to 7 pm.

As part of its 2026 annual site-specific creation program, PROA21 welcomes Mover La Lengua, a research and live creation project that brings together dance and poetry through the collaborative work of writer Maga Cervellera and dancer Martina Kogan. The projects developed within this program are conceived as processes open to the community, unfolding in dialogue with each artist’s practice while inviting exchanges with guests from different artistic and intellectual fields.

This residency is focused on the development of Mamita, a performative project that approaches motherhood as an experience, a question, and a space of tension in contemporary life. Through an interdisciplinary approach, the project explores the relationship between body and language as a space for meaning-making and poetic production, while expanding the ongoing work of Mover La Lengua.

At a time when birth rates continue to decline, public discourse insists on restoring traditional models of family while, at the same time, reducing the rights and material conditions that sustain caregiving.

What does it mean to be a mother today? What shapes that desire? How can someone be both a mother and an artist? Is it possible to create life within a body that is also an instrument and a source of labor? In a context marked by economic precariousness, growing individualism, and fragile care networks, motherhood becomes an open question that cuts across bodies, economies, and emotional life. The project seeks to reflect on the questions, contradictions, and social expectations surrounding motherhood today.

During its time at PROA21, the project moves toward a performative format, using improvisation, writing, and composition as part of an ongoing creative process developed over time.

The performative device aims to preserve some of the defining qualities of the original Mover La Lengua project: playfulness, audience participation, and alternative uses of space.

In this way, the residency opens itself to other artists and visitors, inviting them not only to observe the creative process but also to take part in it. Visitors are encouraged to experiment with the format — writing texts, putting them into movement, and responding to prompts — generating materials that may later become part of the final work.

On Saturday, May 16 at 5 pm, Mariana García Guerreiro joins the project with a public vocal training workshop that complements the artists’ research and activates audience participation within the creative process. On Saturday, May 30, also at 5 pm, and marking the end of Mover La Lengua’s residency at PROA21, Maga Cervellera and Martina Kogan will present a performance sharing the process developed during their month of research and creation in the space.
