ARTISTS’ FILM INTERNATIONAL 2021

Organized by: Whitechapel Gallery, Londres - Fundación Proa, Buenos Aires
Supported by: Tenaris - Techint
15 de june - october, 2021

Artists’ Film International (AFI) is a collaborative project promoted by Whitechapel Gallery that brings together almost twenty institutions from all over the world since 2007 every year. The program aims to present a contemporary outlook of audiovisual culture’s multiple forms, exploring the boundaries of video art, artists film and exhibition cinema.

Every year the selection is made based on a guiding theme. This year’s theme is Care. For the 2021 edition, Fundación Proa presents the work Torontoides, 2019, by the artists Julia Sbriller and Joaquín Wall. A record of a performance that refers, in the words of the artists, "to bodies that launch themselves into the unknown, challenging individual and collective possibilities, the physical properties between the liquid and the solid, gravity and their possibilities of encounter".

The exhibition possibilities of each video presented by every institution from different continents, broaden the complexity of experiences and create new possibilities in relation to video art. Proa chose in this edition, a cycle with weekly presentations that will be available on our website from June 15 until October 2021. During this period, every Tuesday we will share a video that will be hosted on our website.
