Ríndete, Dorothy
(Give up, Dorothy)
This afternoon, the farm is under siege. A decaying statue oozes a viscous invitation to celebrate the wedding between dread and laughter. Both, daughters of sorrow, enter hand in hand to finish off what remains of humanity in the grand auction of cosmic horror. Meanwhile, an indeterminate number of creatures will serve as family, hosts, and murderers for a story that doesn’t exist, where every stone has a name, and the swamp becomes definitive.
Ríndete Dorothy questions horror and its modes of representation in visual culture. A horror seemingly rooted in the night of time, revealing itself as a possible end to this era of accelerated weightlessness. Rural carnival images, infernal fairs, and ritual dances in the paintings of Pieter Bruegel merge with the mythical, dreamlike journey of The Wizard of Oz, giving rise to an ancestral rite.
