Jardinario
{NOTA_BAJADA}

From antiquity to the present day, gardens have been conceived as sites of dialectical encounter between nature and artifice, or as small artificial paradises; as thresholds between the private and the public, as terrain for the emergence of the mysterious and the forbidden, as settings for athletic contests and for musical and theatrical performances; even as representations in themselves, symbols in their own right, insofar as they are deceptive simulacra of nature. All of these lofty ideas collide head-on with silliness, arbitrariness, and absurdity in the hands of the troupe of saltimbanques who, in the open-air summer space of PROA21, stage the comic installation titled Jardinario.
