Christo and Jeanne-Claude were, through their monumental works, arguably the most controversial environmental sculptors of our time. Their monumental, large-scale interventions were always temporary, conceived to exist for only a limited period yet intended to endure in the viewer’s memory.

This book traces the lives and work of the artists on the occasion of the retrospective exhibition presented at Fundación PROA in May 2022.

Lorenza Giovanelli, curator of the exhibition, explores the couple’s artistic journey from its beginnings. Jorge Helft recalls his friend Christo in a deeply personal essay, while Jeanne-Claude’s own words outline the most common misconceptions people have when approaching their work.

More than 150 reproductions offer a comprehensive view of the work of these leading figures of contemporary art, whose imagination and ambition reached every continent.
