On my first site visit, I sensed that a flowering vine could hang in the space above the bookshop. I envisioned the flowers and leaves of the vine to be sculpted from clay, and since flowers grow from soil, they could be made out of an earthy material like clay, which would then be fired to become terracotta ceramics. After I exploded gunpowder on the flowers and leaves, the entire flowing vine resembles a three-dimensional gunpowder drawing that relates to the other gunpowder works.
The students of Instituto Municipal de Cerámica de Avellaneda helped me sculpt 1,600 flowers and leaves. My heart has been unexpectedly touched by their friendliness, kindness and the beautiful simplicity of their creations.”

The images in Danger Book were painted with a mixture of gunpowder and glue. Inside the book are both matches and a pull-string trigger--if the collector intentionally, (or accidentally) pulls the string, all gunpowder images in the entire book would set ablaze and instantaneously self-destruct. The work embodies the subtle relationship between collector, artist, and artwork.
The concept is inscribed in the book as follows:
“Be careful of books, be careful with books.
Be careful or one can become a weapon-wielder,
Be careful or one can become a victim.”
