A weekend with portraits and movement
20.01.2014
Considering the close of the exhibition dedicated to Jack Vanarsky, this weekend, we create around his work with focus on three fundamental concepts: motion, everyday object ( book - portrait ) and maps.
We developed four different activities:
1. Construction of the imaginary future self portraits which were chopped and exchanged with others to form new portraits with movement. Here the movement and the passage of time worked in two ways. On one hand, through the creation of a self-portrait in which the movement of time would be reflected in changes in the facial features of the visitors and, in the other hand, in the arrangement of the memorable parts of the plane that would generate waves that produce some moving close to the optical effect .
2. Construction of self-portraits on a surface that was later cut. Once the work was done manually generate motion was suggested in order to test new combinations of parts and record them photographically.
3. Thaumatropes. We designed a circular device drawn by both sides that due to the phenomenon of " persistence of vision " to be rotated generates overlapping images drawn .
4. A collective map with silhouettes of the participants. Within each person silhouette we make a collage with those elements that would exist in his " Geography " including landscapes, objects and people.
At the end of the activity we invite participants to view Vanarsky in Proa Library and read the texts, creating a bridge to the literature.
For the next weekend, the proposal is to resume Ron Mueck exhibition and focus on the scenic matter and the action. What happens between the characters? What do they tell us those looks?
See you next Saturday and Sunday since 2:30 pm!

Next Weekend: working about Vanarsky
16.01.2014
The idea of fiction, addressed the last weekend, allowed us to work on our desires, interests, daily activities being these elements that make us as unique and unrepeatable beings. All this stimulated by Mueck, an artist who invites us to think about the everyday world and to challenge the rigor of detail in the copy of "reality."
For January 18th and 19th we invite you to build on the work of Jack Vanarsky that is on display and closes on Sunday. Inspired by the animation of their "pop-up books" we will work on the move as active element over time and the idea of fragment as part of a whole.
The movement will be addressed from creating “taumatopos” (circular element that when is rotated gives us motion illusion) and images depicting the passage of time. The question of "fragment as part of a whole" will be the trigger for the creation of a collective map in which we all draw an everyday space
See you next Saturday and Sunday since 2:30 pm!

First weekend with CC Nómade
13.01.2014
Finally came the opening of Centro Cultural Nómade. Hundreds of young and old people came on the sunny afternoons of Saturday and Sunday, to play with imagination and having fun outdoors.
We want to share the activies with you:
Art and fiction
From the image "Ceci n'est pas une pipe" from Magritte, set ourselves think about the idea of fiction in art. Is this a pipe? Is not? Why? We conclude that art, in different ways, proposes fictional situations or simulation.
Mask
Since ancient times, man, from the use of the mask, has generated fictional situation within which they could generate "magical event".
Then on Saturday, we construct masks or finger puppets with masks inspired some action we have done throughout the day plasticine. We link this activity with Ron Mueck's work for two reasons. On the one hand, the idea of ??everyday action reflected both in the works of artist and, secondly, by the variation in the size of the object with respect to reality. Two themes present in the work Mask II, the first work that can be seen upon entering the exhibition.
On Sunday, also inspired by Mask II, thought the mask from its purely magical use and build cardboard imagined acquired some power when placed on the face.
Decals
The protagonist activity of the weekend was when we used alginate to mimic human forms. Adults and children were surprised to find that this technique could be used beyond the mouth molds taking dentists and served to trace parts of the human body. Thus, tracing fragments of our hands, we approached a little to the ubiquitous human figure in the work of Mueck.
Have you found them fun activities? We still have more surprises for the end of next week. See you next Saturday and Sunday from 14:30 pm!

What awaits the first encounter?
10.01.2014
