PRESENTATION "Pica pica bajada cordón" Organized by: PROA21 - Fundación Proa
October 5th – December 22nd 2024
Curated by: Martín Huberman
Sponsored by: Tecpetrol
On October 5th, the exhibition "Pica pica bajada cordón" opens at PROA21, curated by Martín Huberman. This exhibition brings together works of photography, urban studies, and design objects for urban spaces, aiming to offer diverse perspectives on the sidewalks of Buenos Aires, with a special focus on the La Boca neighborhood. It also includes a section dedicated to the history of interventions designed by local and international architects and artists on Fundación Proa's sidewalk. The exhibition is part of the 19th International Architecture Biennale of Buenos Aires.
With a focus on the sidewalk, the selection of works reflects the multiple aspects of life that this element of urban space can capture. The photographs by Horacio Coppola, Marcos Zimmerman, Cristóbal Palma, Ignacio Coló, Iván Breyter, Daniela Mac Adden, Fernando Schapochnik, and Pedro Ignacio Yañez create multiple narratives around the architectural landscape, referencing both the history of Buenos Aires and its current reality.
The design pieces by Guillermo González Ruiz - Roland Shakespear, Diana Cabeza, and Grupo Bondi, along with the mapping of the city's public trees by Martín Simonyan, shed light on the planned, yet vital and often contested, dimension of this space.
A video and a photo mural compose a memorabilia of all the actions carried out by Fundación Proa in public spaces throughout its history, including monumental installations, educational projects for the community, and performative experiences.
