Upcoming exhibition: The Futurist Universe
Futurism is not future. It is not an excess of modernity. Futurism means unique artistic movement. It is both visual arts and literature, cinema and architecture, theater and dance, cooking and fashion.

From April, 1st, Fundación Proa will host The Futurist Universe: 1909-1936, an historical exhibition with over 200 works of art from the Museo di Arte Moderna de Trento e Rovereto (MART), under the curatorship of its director, Gabriella Belli. The show discloses the futurists’ creative rage in all of the disciplines, starting with the avant-garde adventure Filippo Tomasso Marineti embarked on, in 1909. A vision of the world. A system of creation driven by novelties, ignorant of the past, developing alongside the invention of electric lighting, automobiles noise, rise in industry development in Italy at the beginning of the 20th century. The metamorphosis of big cities. One manifesto foretells that “things will outlive us”
A documentary section will take notice of Marinetti’s travels to Argentina, Brasil and Uruguay (1926 and 1936) as well as of the controversial opinions of the intellectuals of the time. Works of this period by Emilio Pettoruti, a well known futurist Latinamerican artist, will be exhibited at the show.
An educational program for the general public, related activities, symposiums, cinema and the edition of a catalogue previewing documents, photographs and manifestos will enrich the exhibition statement. Fundación Proa takes great pride in celebrating the hundred years of Futurism with an impressive exhibition, made possible by the support of the Italian Embassy in Argentina and the continuos sponsorship of Tenaris – Organización Techint.
