Proa organizes a new edition of Latin American Cinema Festival in Monterrey
This Friday, April, 24th begins the Latin-American Cinema Festival of Monterrey 2009 organized by Proa and supported by Ternium, with the support of CONARTE Center of Arts.
In this second edition of the Festival, which will take place from 24 until April 26 in the Cineteca of New Leon, the public will see a selection of movies of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico and Uruguay. As last year happened, the assistants will be able to talk with some of the directors and producers of the selected movies, in a space opened for the dialog and for the reflection over of the contemporary cinema. In addition, this year the projections spread to diverse university spaces, as Monterrey’s University.
The programation of the Festival of Latin-American Cinema Monterrey 2009 includes movies of diverse genres as drama, romantic, documentary and dramatic comedy. The movies that will be projected are: Intimacies of Shakespeare and Víctor Hugo, of Yulene Olaizola (Mexico); Park Route, of Enrique Rivero (Mexico); Year nail, of Jonas Cuarón (Mexico); Know the head of Juan Perez, of Emilio Portes (Mexico); The empty nest, of Daniel Burman (Argentina); Lion’s cage, of Paul Trapero (Argentina); Basic Reparation, of Jorge Furtado (Brazil); Tony Manero, of Tony Larraín (Chili / Brazil); and Acne, of Federico Veiroj (Uruguay). “It will be an anteroom of what will be able to be seen in commercial rooms during this year, since already they were acquired by Mexican distributors “, affirmed Matías Mosteirín, the director of the Festival and member of the Academy of Arts and Cinematographic Sciences of Argentina, person in charge of the selection of the movies.
In this new edition, the Festival of Latin-American Cinema in Monterrey renews the commitment to promote the Latin-American contemporary cinema and to generate a platform of diffusion for the new creators.
