Fundación Proa presents “The City in Dialogue” in Mexico City
“The City in Dialogue, Coppola-Zuviría” brings together 43 pieces of two notable Argentine photographers of the Twentieth-Century. Basing itself on the presentied works, the exhibition presents a rich panorama of historic and contemporary pieces that allow to reflect onto Buenos Aires and the Rio de la Plata.

The exhibition, which was presented in Fundación Proa and in different cities across the globe, is currently exhibited at the Galería de la SHCP (Secretaría de Hacienda y Crédito Público de México), dependent on the Dirección General de Promoción Cultural, Obra Pública y Acervo Patrimonial de México D.F.
This exhibition alternates the visions of the two authors who have given the city of Buenos Aires visibility.
A pioneer of modern photography in Latin America, Horacio Coppola captured, starting in the ’30s, a growing and vigorous city, and thus defining a specific urban culture. Facundo de Zuviría is an authority in contemporary Argentine photography. A disciple of Horacio Coppola, his work brings forth a current vision of the country and retakes a period left behind by his teacher until our days.
The cycle “The City in Dialogue” conforms a part of Fotoseptiembre México, which in this edition coincides the 15th anniversary of the Centro de la Imagen (CI). This center promotes the visual arts, particularly photography. Created by the Consejo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes in 1994, and incorporated into the Centro Nacional de las Artes in 2001, the CI is a space dedicated to the investigation, formation, analysis and divulgation of photography and image amongst a diverse public.
