The best seller of Proa Library
The book “Marcel Duchamp. A work that is not a work ´of art´”, published by Proa, with the support of French Embassy in Argentina, sold out the first edition of 2.000 copies.
During the 70 days of Marcel Duchamp´s exhibition, it was the best selling book at Proa Library.
The book is a reduced version of the main catalogue, and includes a group of selected balck and white images, and fundamental texts to understand the importance of the artist in the context of history of art, and that are now reference to analize life and work of Duchamp.
In the book, for the frist time, were Published in Spanish “The time of the readymade” by Thierry de Duve and “The blink o fan eye”, by Rosalind Krauss. The book also includes “A museum that is not such” by Elena Filipovic, the curator of Marcel Duchamp: a work that is not a work “of art”. To complete the essays, the book includes the research works of Gonzalo Aguilar and of Elena Texeira de Barros, that look into the collections of Buenos Aires and San Pablo.
Proa public still has the posibility of ordering Marcel Duchamp´s catalogue in the extended version.
