This is a handwritten copy of the work preserved in the Boijmans van Beuningen Museum in Rotterdam, probably made in the workshop of Guercino himself. The small canvas shows two figures - Diana and a nymph? - who are about to take a bath, with a lovely landscape as a backdrop. The softness of the female form achieves a harmony with the curves of the elements of nature; the realm of light and color are perfectly calibrated. It is difficult to escape the fascination of a mythological Arcadian age in which the Body is a partner, fellow protagonist and guide of the beauty of nature.
